JL3 Mahjong Ways 2: What the Sequel Changes and What It Keeps

JL3 Mahjong Ways 2 makes the most sense as a list of edits to the first game. The tiles, the falling refills and the free-spin multiplier will all feel familiar; the board’s shape, the number of ways and the cap will not. Anyone who treats it as the same slot in new colours misreads how a session will go, so the four edits come first.
JL3 Mahjong Ways 2: the four changes
Assume only the theme carries over from the first game, then check the rest. Set side by side, PG Soft’s figures show four genuine differences:
- A taller middle. Five columns, four cells high at the edges, with reels 2, 3 and 4 each given an extra cell.
- More ways. Column heights of four, five, five, five and four multiply out to 2,000 ways; the first game manages 1,024.
- A higher cap. The top win becomes x100000, four times the first game’s x25000.
- A sliver more return. PG Soft’s figure is 96.95%, compared with 96.92% for Mahjong Ways.
What stays put softens that rule a little. Both games are rated Medium, golden tiles still convert into wilds during the drop, and the free-spin multiplier still stops at 10 times. Habits from the first game’s bonus round therefore still apply, even if the board does not.
PG Soft’s timeline of releases places the sequel at 14 April 2020.

Features to weigh before a Mahjong Ways 2 session
A higher cap is bought with rarity, not with a better return. The return moves by just 0.03 points between the two games, so the extra room at the top is funded by scarcity: payouts that large arrive very seldom. On a ₱5 stake, x100000 works out to ₱500,000 for one spin, and that number is a ceiling, nothing more.
Three practical checks follow from it:
- Budget in spins, not in hopes. Bring ₱500, bet ₱5 a time, and you have 100 spins; settle that before the first press.
- Expect the biggest payouts to be rarer. With the return almost unchanged, a ceiling four times higher has to be reached less often.
- Mind the name. On 7 October 2026 a lobby search found the original under SLOTS. Type the sequel’s full name as well, and tap only a tile that shows the 2.
The house edge barely shifts between the pair. At 96.95% the sequel keeps 3.05% of stakes over the long run, so ₱2,000 put through it carries an expected cost near ₱61; the original’s 3.08% on the same ₱2,000 comes to about ₱62. Choose between them on board shape and cap, never on return.
To watch the board move before staking, how to check for a PG Soft demo describes the buttons a tile carries when a practice mode is there. Lucky Neko shares the x100000 cap on a wider board, laid out in Lucky Neko’s six-reel layout, and the PG Soft hub for JL3 puts all five games into one table. How to Get Started
-
Check the 2 on the tile
Under SLOTS and the PG filter, type the whole name including its digit. The two Mahjong tiles sit near each other and are easy to swap by mistake.
-
Look at the reel heights
On spin one, count cells per column: the three middle reels should hold five while the outer pair hold four. Equal columns mean you opened the original.
-
Re-read the paytable
Tile values and the free-spin panel belong to this game, so read them fresh instead of relying on what the first Mahjong Ways taught you.
